In I982 took place the wedding of Prince Johannes (IIth Prince of Thurn and Taxis) and Countess Gloria von Schönburg Glauchau. In the year 1890, the Empress Eugenie Pearl and Diamond Tiara was acquired by Prince Albert I, the 8th Prince of Thurn and Taxis, who was the head of the House of Thurn and Taxis from 1885 to 1952. The Prince purchased the historical tiara as a wedding gift for his wife. The tiara remained in the Thurn and Taxis family and was worn again by Princess Gloria in 1980, on the occasion of her marriage to Prince Johannes, the 11th Prince of Thurn and Taxis, who headed the family from 1982 to 1990.
