In an extravagant ceremony on 9 September 2004 the Prince married 17-year old Pengiran Anak Sarah. The ceremony, estimated to cost nearly £3 million, took place at the Nurul Iman Palace in Bandar Seri Begawan. The bride is the daughter of Pengiran Salleh Ab Rahaman, a distant relative of the royal family.
