Jane McNeill married Lord Dalkeith on 10 January 1953, at St. Giles’s Cathedral, Edinburgh. The wedding caused something of a media storm for Lord Dalkeith had been expected to marry Princess Margaret. In fact by the Princess’s 20th birthday, in August 1950, the continental papers were full of news of the impending marriage, but it was not to be.
