Princess Beatrice’s wedding was not supposed to look like this.

There was meant to be a ceremony at the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace, followed by a reception in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.

Then 2020 happened.

Instead, Beatrice married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a tiny private ceremony at Windsor, wearing one of her grandmother Queen Elizabeth II’s vintage Norman Hartnell gowns and the same diamond tiara the Queen had worn on her own wedding day.

Honestly, the emergency version may have become the more memorable one.

There are understated royal wedding dresses.

And then there is Princess Mabel’s wedding dress.

When Mabel Wisse Smit married Prince Friso of Orange-Nassau in Delft on April 24, 2004, she wore a snow-white Viktor & Rolf gown covered with 248 handmade bows.

Two hundred and forty-eight.

The bows began small across the fitted bodice and skirt and became progressively larger toward the train, eventually turning what was otherwise a remarkably classical dress into one of the most instantly recognisable royal wedding gowns of the 2000s.

She married Jaime de Marichalar y Sáenz de Tejada, son of the Count and Countess of Ripalda, on 18 March 1995, in Seville Cathedral, Seville, at which time her father conferred on her the title Duchess of Lugo for life.[1] She has two children:

Sarah and Daniel wedding was attended by the British Royal Family, with exception to Dukes of York.  The bride choose not to have Royal Carriage, Red Carpet or Sound of Bells ringing.

The cerimony only took 30 minutes and the newlyweds caught everyone by surprise leaving the church unannounced. Even the driver wasn't at his place which made the couple laugh while waited for the car to show.

The Lady Rose Windsor announced her engagement on 16 November 2007 to 26-year-old George Gilman, son of property developer Peter J. I. Gilman. They married on 19 July 2008 at Queen's Chapel, St. James's Palace in London.
