Prince Naruhito and Masako Owada

For Japanese Prince Naruhito, Masako Owada was hard to tie down. Rejecting his proposal not once but twice, the Harvard-educated Owada eventually gave up a promising career in the Japanese Foreign Ministry to wed the Prince on June 9, 1993.
